Japanese Green tea from Yame, harvest 2026

We have received a selection of new Japanese green teas from Yame in Fukuoka Prefecture. The region has a long tradition of tea cultivation and is regarded as one of Japan’s foremost areas for high-quality green tea, particularly gyokuro.
The new arrivals include sencha, gyokuro and matcha – three teas with distinct characters, all displaying the richness, sweetness and pronounced umami for which Yame green teas are renowned.

Gyokuro Yame 50 gram

Gyokuro is considered one of the most exclusive types of Japanese green tea. Compared with sencha, it has a fuller and sweeter flavour with pronounced umami, resulting from the shading of the tea bushes before harvest.

Matcha Chiran 100 gram

Matcha tea from Chiran, Kagoshima. Suitable for preparing usucha (thin tea) and excellent for use as an ingredient in cooking and baking. Matcha is traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony, but today it is also commonly enjoyed as a health drink and used to add flavour to food and baked goods.

This fukamushi sencha comes from Yame in Fukuoka Prefecture, one of Japan’s best-known regions for high-quality green tea. Yame has a tea-growing tradition spanning around 600 years and is particularly renowned for teas with a full-bodied flavour, pronounced sweetness and rich umami.
