Huo Shan Huang Ya 50 gram

Hand-picked Huo Shan Huang Ya from the first spring harvest of 2026. The tea is grown at an altitude of around 800 metres in the Huoshan area of Anhui. The cultivar is Huoshan Morning, a traditional local cultivar used in the production of Huo Shan Huang Ya. Yellow tea has a long tradition in China and is today a rare tea category with only a small number of well-known varieties. Huo Shan Huang Ya is classified as a yellow tea, but in flavour it is quite close to green tea, with a fresh and light character.

The production method is in many ways similar to that of green tea, but includes a special step known as men huang, or yellowing. After heating, the leaves are allowed to rest under warm and slightly humid conditions before the final drying. This process gives the tea its characteristically softer and rounder flavour and reduces some of the green, vegetal notes otherwise typical of green tea.
