Assam Taiwan 50 gram

This black tea from Taiwan is picked by hand from an Assamica cultivar grown around the Sun Moon Lake area, Yu Chi. The tea bushes of cultivar Assamica TTES 8 are grown at an altitude of about 1000 m.

Taiwan is famous for their production of oolong teas, fewer are familiar with the production of black tea. Japan intended to compete with the British for the export of black tea and started a production of black tea in Taiwan. TTES 8 cultivar was developed during this time. The black teas disappeared when Japan left Taiwan. This Assamica cultivar has since been refined and has the excellent properties that characterize a quality black tea from Taiwan.
