Lu An Gua Pian is traditionally regarded as one of China’s most famous green teas. This is a very exclusive, hand-picked type from the spring harvest of 2026. Lu An Gua Pian differs from most other Chinese green teas in that only the tea leaves themselves are used. Buds and stems are removed, and the tea is made from the developed leaves. This gives it a different character from many other fine Chinese green teas and contributes to a distinct yet delicate vegetal note.

In high-quality Chinese green teas, quality is often expressed less through strength and intensity and more through purity, balance and fine nuances. Here, the flavour is mild and well balanced, with soft vegetal notes, subtle sweetness and a long, clean finish that gradually develops in the cup. The finished leaves take on the characteristic shape that gives the tea its name, Gua Pian – approximately “melon seed”.

Lu An Gua Pian originates from Lu’an in Anhui Province, an area with a very long tradition of tea cultivation and green tea production. The tea has long held a prominent place in Chinese tea culture and is also mentioned in Chinese literature and historical texts.
