Kocha Yamato Midori 50 gram

Hand-picked exclusive black tea from the first pick from Tsukigase, Japan. The tea is grown without the use of pesticides. (JAS certified). The tea is produced from the very unusual tea cultivar Yamato Midori. Yamato Midori is an old tea cultivar that is very rarely used today and was developed for the production of Sencha tea. This is a rarity from Japan, a craft tea from a small-scale producer.

Japan was a producer of black tea until 1955. After 1955 the competition was too hard and Japanese black tea stopped producing. Today only a small production remains to meet domestic market, black tea is not normally exported.
