Hand-picked exclusive black tea from the first picking from Yame, Japan. The tea is grown at an altitude of about 600 meters and without the use of pesticides. The tea is from cultivar Sayamakaori, a cultivar developed from Yabukita and normally used for green teas. It gives this tea a unique taste with light aroma and hints of flowers and fruit. This is a rarity from Japan, a craft tea from a small-scale producer.
Japan was a producer of black tea until 1955. After 1955 the competition was too hard and Japanese black tea stopped producing. Today only a small production remains to meet domestic market, black tea is not normally exported.
